Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Industrial and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.37% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.77%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which rose 4.96% or 3.210 points to trade at 67.870 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) added 2.76% or 6.000 points to end at 223.150 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 1.52% or 3.200 points to 213.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 1.39% or 0.330 points to trade at 23.480 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 1.37% or 0.140 points to end at 10.110 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) shed 1.00% or 0.135 points to 13.305.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which rose 7.92% to 43.400, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which was up 2.39% to settle at 46.500 and Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which gained 2.05% to close at 41.228.
The worst performers were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 3.06% to 20.250 in late trade, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which lost 1.25% to settle at 26.410 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 1.09% to 9.798 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which rose 3.51% to 27.000, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 3.28% to settle at 114.950 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which gained 2.93% to close at 122.900.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 3.93% to 12.960 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 3.34% to settle at 6.980 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 2.32% to 1.940 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 426 to 308 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.98% to 18.34 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.91% or 10.90 to $1211.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.50% or 0.79 to hit $52.03 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.28 to trade at $60.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1377, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.7368.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 94.39.
