Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the DAX Basic Resources, DAX Technology and DAX Food & Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.78%, while the MDAX index gained 0.63%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which rose 7.62% or 2.980 points to trade at 42.100 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) added 3.06% or 0.292 points to end at 9.850 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was up 2.27% or 0.510 points to 23.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Siemens AG NA (XETRA:SIEGn), which lost 4.82% or 4.810 points to trade at 95.020 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) declined 3.08% or 0.340 points to end at 10.710 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) shed 0.85% or 0.215 points to 25.150.
The top performers on the MDAX were Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which rose 3.69% to 27.850, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was up 3.56% to settle at 23.570 and Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which gained 3.21% to close at 50.090.
The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was down 1.71% to 39.465 in late trade, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which lost 1.38% to settle at 35.000 and Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which was down 1.07% to 63.610 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which rose 3.87% to 11.815, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was up 3.84% to settle at 88.750 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which gained 3.81% to close at 109.000.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 9.11% to 10.930 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 3.61% to settle at 7.104 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 0.81% to 12.300 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 463 to 264 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.38.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.43% or 5.60 to $1287.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 2.66% or 1.23 to hit $45.00 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 1.24% or 0.61 to trade at $48.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.1351, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.7484.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 94.47.
