Investing.com – U.K. equities started with losses mainly on Wednesday. There were some rises though, in sectors such as Oil & Gas, Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Metals & Mining. The top losers were Automobiles & Parts, Tobacco, General Retailers, Travel & Leisure and Electricity sectors.
At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index rose 0.34%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index were mixed. The FTSE 250 was down slightly at market open, while the FTSE 350 was up by 0.27%.
- BP (LON:BP): Increased 2.49% or 10.00 points to 411.00.
- Shell (LON:SHEL): Rose 2.04% or 50.5 points to 2,528.5.
- BAE Systems (LON:BAES): Climbed 2.08% or 26.55 points to 1,300.05.
- JD Sports Fashion (LON:JD): Dropped 5.28% or 7.90 points to 141.60 .
- Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD): Fell 1.25% or 0.940 points to 74.180.
- Smurfit Westrock (LON:SWR): Declined 1.05% or 39.0 points to 3,659.0.
In Commodities Trading:
- Gold Futures for December delivery dropped 16.10 points to 2,674.20 a troy ounce.
- Crude Oil for November delivery climbed 1.69 points to 71.52 a barrel.
- December Brent Oil Contract increased 2.19% or 1.61 points to 75.17 a barrel.
Currency Markets:
- GBP/USD is below 1.33, at 1.3293 at the time of writing.
- EUR/GBP is at 0.8332.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 100.984.
