Investing.com – France equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the General Retailers, Household Goods and General Financial sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 2.29%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB), which rose 4.42% or 3.58 points to trade at 84.52 at the close. Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) added 4.35% or 83.00 points to end at 1,992.00 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was up 4.09% or 2.14 points to 54.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE), which lost 2.23% or 0.36 points to trade at 15.57 in late trade. Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) declined 1.96% or 1.52 points to end at 76.12 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) shed 1.24% or 0.14 points to 10.78.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Beneteau SA (EPA:CHBE) which rose 11.14% to 9.08, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was up 8.10% to settle at 0.79 and Inter Parfums Inc. (EPA:IPAR) which gained 6.17% to close at 43.85.
The worst performers were Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which was down 3.04% to 1.43 in late trade, Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which lost 2.55% to settle at 8.04 and Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) which was down 2.23% to 15.57 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 298 to 182 and 101 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.62% or 16.00 to $2,614.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.23% or 1.56 to hit $71.44 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.44 to trade at $75.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 100.43.
