Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Leisure Goods and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.46%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 0.70% or 0.04 points to trade at 5.04 at the close. Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) added 0.69% or 0.20 points to end at 29.30 and Technip (PA:TECF) was up 0.17% or 0.09 points to 49.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Renault SA (PA:RENA), which lost 3.51% or 3.26 points to trade at 89.72 in late trade. Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) declined 3.18% or 2.76 points to end at 84.14 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) shed 2.85% or 1.26 points to 43.15.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which rose 5.47% to 42.500, Coface (PA:COFA) which was up 3.90% to settle at 8.72 and Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which gained 3.67% to close at 3.45.
The worst performers were CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 4.54% to 3.22 in late trade, Solocal Group SA (PA:LOCAL) which lost 3.80% to settle at 7.696 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 3.74% to 26.990 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 495 to 243 and 47 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.45% to 21.22.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.17% or 1.80 to $1089.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.35% or 0.60 to hit $43.69 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.39 to trade at $47.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.0763, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.7117.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 99.03.
