Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Support Services, Aerospace & Defense and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.70%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which rose 1.81% or 0.15 points to trade at 8.38 at the close. Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 0.79% or 0.40 points to end at 51.01 and Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) was up 0.53% or 0.50 points to 94.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Safran SA (PARIS:SAF), which lost 1.60% or 1.05 points to trade at 64.73 in late trade. L`Oreal SA (PARIS:OREP) declined 1.33% or 2.30 points to end at 170.15 and Valeo SA (PARIS:VLOF) shed 1.32% or 1.80 points to 134.25.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which rose 2.51% to 4.85, Virbac (PARIS:VIRB) which was up 2.18% to settle at 218.00 and ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) which gained 1.81% to close at 8.38.
The worst performers were Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which was down 10.06% to 0.420 in late trade, Adocia (PARIS:ADOC) which lost 6.03% to settle at 88.000 and Teleperformance (PARIS:ROCH) which was down 3.28% to 66.02 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 544 to 293 and 47 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.54% to 17.14.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.21% or 2.30 to $1104.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.52% or 0.26 to hit $50.70 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.22% or 0.12 to trade at $56.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.06% to 1.0939, while EUR/GBP rose 1.10% to 0.7032.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.77% at 97.43.
