Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Personal Goods, Industrial Engineering and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.15% to hit a new 3-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PARIS:RENA), which rose 2.49% or 2.25 points to trade at 92.66 at the close. Michelin (PARIS:MICP) added 2.29% or 2.19 points to end at 97.80 and Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) was up 2.20% or 0.39 points to 17.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH), which lost 3.18% or 5.10 points to trade at 155.15 in late trade. Alstom (PARIS:ALSO) declined 1.70% or 0.47 points to end at 27.13 and Saint Gobain (PARIS:SGOB) shed 1.42% or 0.60 points to 41.92.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ipsos (PARIS:ISOS) which rose 3.26% to 24.20, Nexans (PARIS:NEXS) which was up 3.25% to settle at 34.28 and Technicolor (PARIS:TCH) which gained 2.86% to close at 6.001.
The worst performers were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) which was down 3.18% to 155.15 in late trade, Tarkett (PARIS:TKTT) which lost 2.55% to settle at 21.40 and Neopost (PARIS:NPOS) which was down 2.48% to 43.20 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 552 to 350 and 50 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.69% to 24.54.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.24% or 2.80 to $1176.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.06% or 1.78 to hit $59.92 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.18% or 2.00 to trade at $64.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.1269, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7334.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.22.
