Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.69%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB), which rose 1.07% or 0.84 points to trade at 79.42 at the close. Safran SA (EPA:SAF) added 0.80% or 1.60 points to end at 202.80 and Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) was up 0.52% or 0.50 points to 96.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kering SA (EPA:PRTP), which lost 3.10% or 9.95 points to trade at 311.35 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 2.49% or 0.54 points to end at 21.12 and Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) shed 2.32% or 49.00 points to 2,065.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 4.05% to 3.49, Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was up 2.46% to settle at 2.91 and Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which gained 2.32% to close at 12.59.
The worst performers were SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which was down 24.56% to 19.66 in late trade, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which lost 13.15% to settle at 1.11 and Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was down 6.41% to 1.80 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 277 to 212 and 100 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.47% or 35.70 to $2,464.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.15% or 0.93 to hit $79.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.90 to trade at $83.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 104.08.
