Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.64%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PARIS:TOTF), which rose 1.44% or 0.64 points to trade at 45.21 at the close. Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 1.22% or 0.70 points to end at 58.00 and Gemalto (AMS:GTO) was up 1.12% or 0.83 points to 75.14 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR), which lost 4.51% or 2.88 points to trade at 60.98 in late trade. Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) declined 3.48% or 3.13 points to end at 86.87 and Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) shed 2.68% or 0.099 points to 3.591.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Iliad (PARIS:ILD) which rose 1.97% to 223.10, Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) which was up 1.44% to settle at 45.21 and Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which gained 1.32% to close at 7.12.
The worst performers were Virbac (PARIS:VIRB) which was down 7.02% to 237.00 in late trade, Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) which lost 5.94% to settle at 15.59 and Montupet SA (PARIS:MNTP) which was down 5.36% to 70.080 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 601 to 313 and 51 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.51% to 19.18.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.50% or 5.80 to $1147.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in May fell 1.69% or 0.78 to hit $45.35 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract fell 1.05% or 0.56 to trade at $53.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.0592, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.7182.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 100.01.
