Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Banks and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.00%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PARIS:RENA), which rose 11.54% or 7.99 points to trade at 77.20 at the close. Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) added 4.61% or 0.500 points to end at 11.335 and Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) was up 4.53% or 0.40 points to 9.14 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP), which lost 4.09% or 4.40 points to trade at 103.20 in late trade. EDF (PARIS:EDF) declined 3.84% or 0.94 points to end at 23.41 and Danone SA (PARIS:DANO) shed 0.90% or 0.53 points to 58.14.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) which rose 11.54% to 77.20, Aperam (AMS:APAM) which was up 9.21% to settle at 25.99 and Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which gained 7.25% to close at 22.86.
The worst performers were Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP) which was down 4.09% to 103.20 in late trade, EDF (PARIS:EDF) which lost 3.84% to settle at 23.41 and Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which was down 2.22% to 0.880 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 629 to 283 and 52 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.04% to 22.15.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.17% or 2.10 to $1221.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 3.73% or 1.82 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 4.89% or 2.73 to trade at $58.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.1405, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7412.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.02% at 94.19.
