Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Personal Goods and Technology Hardware & Equipment Financial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.96%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH), which rose 3.69% or 5.55 points to trade at 156.15 at the close. Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) added 3.34% or 4.15 points to end at 128.40 and Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR) was up 3.11% or 1.50 points to 49.73 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Michelin (PARIS:MICP), which lost 2.56% or 2.21 points to trade at 84.13 in late trade. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 1.56% or 0.14 points to end at 8.88 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) shed 1.25% or 0.60 points to 47.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Thales (PARIS:TCFP) which rose 3.72% to 50.83, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) which was up 3.69% to settle at 156.15 and Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) which gained 3.34% to close at 128.40.
The worst performers were Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which was down 13.48% to 0.661 in late trade, CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which lost 3.36% to settle at 5.98 and Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which was down 3.35% to 8.19 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 575 to 330 and 54 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.15% to 22.83.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.60% or 7.50 to $1234.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 3.69% or 1.95 to hit $50.91 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 1.76% or 1.04 to trade at $58.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1319, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7417.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 94.78.
