Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Transportation & Logistics, Financial Services and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.89%, while the MDAX index added 0.46%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG NA (DE:SIEGn), which rose 8.62% or 7.190 points to trade at 90.600 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 6.31% or 0.760 points to end at 12.800 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 4.05% or 0.365 points to 9.369 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which lost 2.73% or 0.635 points to trade at 22.600 in late trade. K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) declined 0.79% or 0.160 points to end at 20.035 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) shed 0.73% or 0.560 points to 76.440.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which rose 18.22% to 13.170, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 5.81% to settle at 33.215 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which gained 4.77% to close at 20.980.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which was down 3.45% to 64.460 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 1.77% to settle at 71.640 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which was down 1.01% to 27.35 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 3.04% to 85.520, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 2.71% to settle at 62.450 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 2.62% to close at 227.200.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which was down 5.11% to 3.265 in late trade, BB Biotech AG (DE:BIONn) which lost 2.62% to settle at 228.350 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 1.79% to 46.520 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 381 to 289 and 45 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.82% to 26.37.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.13% or 12.50 to $1117.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 4.70% or 1.43 to hit $31.77 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 4.95% or 1.55 to trade at $32.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0844, while EUR/GBP fell 0.83% to 0.7550.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 99.17.
