Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Real Estate and REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Hexo Corp (TSX:HEXO), which rose 23.86% or 0.210 points to trade at 1.090 at the close. Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:WEED) added 8.63% or 2.340 points to end at 29.440 and Brookfield Property Partners LP (TSX:BPY_u) was up 6.99% or 0.91 points to 13.93 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PrairieSky Royalty Ltd (TSX:PSK), which lost 4.75% or 0.45 points to trade at 9.03 in late trade. Canfor Corporation (TSX:CFP) declined 4.55% or 0.46 points to end at 9.66 and Parex Resources Inc (TSX:PXT) shed 3.91% or 0.64 points to 15.72.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 573 to 433 and 98 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.47% or 8.10 to $1727.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.35% or 0.45 to hit $33.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.28% or 0.45 to trade at $35.58 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.10% to 0.7150, while CAD/EUR rose 0.16% to 0.6562.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 99.817.
