Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4), which rose 5.12% or 0.27 points to trade at 5.54 at the close. BR Properties SA (SA:BRPR3) added 4.18% or 0.44 points to end at 10.97 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) was up 2.58% or 0.37 points to 14.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which lost 6.68% or 0.25 points to trade at 3.49 in late trade. Vale SA (SA:VALE5) declined 5.11% or 0.79 points to end at 14.66 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) shed 5.00% or 0.51 points to 9.69.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 191 to 115 and 8 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.72% to 40.74 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.34% or 3.80 to $1107.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.53% or 0.23 to hit $43.09 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 2.83% or 3.77 to trade at $137.20 .
USD/BRL was up 1.24% to 3.4802, while EUR/BRL rose 1.53% to 3.8436.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.00% at 97.24.
