Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.50% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3), which rose 15.36% or 0.41 points to trade at 3.08 at the close. Banco Bradesco SA (BVMF:BBDC3) added 8.30% or 0.94 points to end at 12.27 and Banco Bradesco SA Pref (BVMF:BBDC4) was up 7.51% or 0.95 points to 13.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3), which lost 5.41% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.75 in late trade. Ez Tec SA (BVMF:EZTC3) declined 4.10% or 0.57 points to end at 13.33 and Energisa SA (BVMF:ENGI11) shed 3.28% or 1.50 points to 44.18.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 784 to 189 and 51 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 23.44% to 31.81 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.83% or 20.60 to $2,449.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.48% or 0.35 to hit $73.87 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.32% or 3.05 to trade at $227.45 .
USD/BRL was unchanged 0.04% to 5.73, while EUR/BRL rose 1.05% to 6.29.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 102.49.
