Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3), which rose 2.80% or 0.34 points to trade at 12.49 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 2.51% or 1.17 points to end at 47.70 and Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) was up 2.07% or 0.70 points to 34.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which lost 4.63% or 0.31 points to trade at 6.39 in late trade. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 3.41% or 0.35 points to end at 9.90 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) shed 2.56% or 0.83 points to 31.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 212 to 203 and 45 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.03% to 32.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.88% or 11.19 to $1286.09 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.59% or 0.29 to hit $49.58 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.92% or 1.20 to trade at $130.97 .
USD/BRL was up 0.01% to 3.1886, while EUR/BRL fell 0.98% to 3.7066.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 93.55.
