Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Ambev SA (BVMF:ABEV3), which rose 4.08% or 0.52 points to trade at 13.25 at the close. SLC Agricola SA (BVMF:SLCE3) added 3.22% or 0.56 points to end at 17.97 and Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF:BEEF3) was up 2.74% or 0.16 points to 6.01 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which lost 7.91% or 0.39 points to trade at 4.54 in late trade. Raizen SA Preferred (BVMF:RAIZ4) declined 4.55% or 0.12 points to end at 2.52 and Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3) shed 4.28% or 0.16 points to 3.58.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 531 to 474 and 45 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.72% to 33.82.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.77% or 20.56 to $2,660.44 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $68.19 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 7.17% or 22.80 to trade at $295.25 .
USD/BRL was up 1.43% to 6.06, while EUR/BRL rose 0.31% to 6.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 106.39.
