Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Electric Power, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which rose 3.69% or 0.15 points to trade at 4.22 at the close. Vivara Participacoes SA (BVMF:VIVA3) added 3.09% or 0.85 points to end at 28.34 and Multiplan SA (BVMF:MULT3) was up 2.39% or 0.62 points to 26.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ultrapar Participacoes SA (BVMF:UGPA3), which lost 3.91% or 0.93 points to trade at 22.86 in late trade. Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF:ASAI3) declined 3.78% or 0.35 points to end at 8.90 and Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF:PETZ3) shed 3.71% or 0.18 points to 4.67.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 487 to 471 and 57 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.34% to 26.93.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.51% or 12.80 to $2,545.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.46% or 2.38 to hit $66.33 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.06% or 2.60 to trade at $248.00 .
USD/BRL was up 1.35% to 5.66, while EUR/BRL rose 1.21% to 6.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 101.61.
