Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 2.71% or 0.28 points to trade at 10.62 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 2.48% or 0.22 points to end at 9.10 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was up 1.84% or 0.13 points to 7.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which lost 2.23% or 0.40 points to trade at 17.50 in late trade. Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3) declined 2.09% or 1.31 points to end at 61.35 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) shed 1.98% or 0.17 points to 8.42.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 233 to 169 and 41 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.31% to 25.66.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.39% or 18.00 to $1315.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.47% or 1.18 to hit $46.69 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.11% or 0.15 to trade at $131.47 .
USD/BRL was up 0.14% to 3.1644, while EUR/BRL rose 0.58% to 3.7903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 92.18.
