Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 2.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3), which rose 6.35% or 1.68 points to trade at 28.13 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 6.16% or 0.60 points to end at 10.34 and B2W Cia Digital (SA:BTOW3) was up 5.76% or 1.51 points to 27.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3), which lost 0.79% or 0.20 points to trade at 25.17 in late trade. Ambev SA (SA:ABEV3) declined 0.42% or 0.08 points to end at 18.90 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) gained 0.31% or 0.02 points to 6.46.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 268 to 138 and 40 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.88% to 40.08.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.23% or 2.80 to $1202.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.10% or 2.04 to hit $67.88 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.83% or 0.85 to trade at $101.03 .
USD/BRL was up 0.18% to 4.0558, while EUR/BRL rose 0.40% to 4.7014.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 94.98.
