Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 14.93% or 1.16 points to trade at 8.93 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 8.87% or 1.54 points to end at 18.90 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) was up 8.17% or 1.32 points to 17.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which lost 2.37% or 0.33 points to trade at 13.60 in late trade. Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) declined 2.08% or 0.36 points to end at 16.93 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 1.86% or 0.21 points to 11.11.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 320 to 147 and 24 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.70% to 29.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.70 to $1295.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.44% or 0.95 to hit $64.86 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.09% or 1.34 to trade at $121.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.62% to 3.7404, while EUR/BRL fell 0.32% to 4.3743.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.03.
