Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which rose 10.00% or 0.51 points to trade at 5.61 at the close. Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF:CSNA3) added 8.95% or 1.09 points to end at 13.27 and Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3) was up 7.20% or 0.09 points to 1.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included 3R Petroleum Oleo E Gas Sa (BVMF:BRAV3), which lost 6.54% or 1.19 points to trade at 17.01 in late trade. Prio SA (BVMF:PRIO3) declined 4.84% or 2.17 points to end at 42.64 and Vivara Participacoes SA (BVMF:VIVA3) shed 3.13% or 0.86 points to 26.64.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 483 to 462 and 51 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.39% to 27.41.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.40% or 10.80 to $2,695.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.21% or 2.24 to hit $67.45 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.68% or 4.53 to trade at $273.63 .
USD/BRL was down 0.65% to 5.44, while EUR/BRL fell 0.10% to 6.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 100.29.
