Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3), which rose 8.26% or 1.29 points to trade at 16.90 at the close. 3R Petroleum Oleo E Gas Sa (BVMF:BRAV3) added 6.59% or 1.03 points to end at 16.65 and Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3) was up 5.99% or 0.13 points to 2.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3), which lost 7.07% or 0.49 points to trade at 6.44 in late trade. Ultrapar Participacoes SA (BVMF:UGPA3) declined 6.22% or 1.28 points to end at 19.29 and Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF:PETZ3) shed 5.53% or 0.25 points to 4.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 533 to 409 and 59 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 22.46% to 31.86.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.61% or 15.90 to $2,570.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.28% or 0.19 to hit $68.62 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 3.01% or 8.15 to trade at $279.35 .
USD/BRL was unchanged 0.00% to 5.79, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.00% to 6.10.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 106.79.
