Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 6.69% or 1.74 points to trade at 27.74 at the close. Proximus NV (EBR:PROX) added 1.27% or 0.09 points to end at 6.78 and Ageas (EBR:AGES) was up 0.25% or 0.12 points to 48.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP), which lost 1.76% or 0.42 points to trade at 23.38 in late trade. Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) declined 1.57% or 0.59 points to end at 36.92 and Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR:ABI) shed 1.36% or 0.82 points to 59.38.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 62 to 30 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 3.30 to $2,664.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.40% or 2.53 to hit $76.91 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.22% or 2.51 to trade at $80.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 102.23.
