Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.40% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB), which rose 2.49% or 0.77 points to trade at 31.74 at the close. Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) added 1.46% or 0.24 points to end at 16.67 and D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB) was up 0.99% or 2.00 points to 203.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.37% or 0.34 points to trade at 24.52 in late trade. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) declined 1.16% or 1.00 points to end at 85.00 and Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) shed 1.13% or 4.00 points to 350.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 52 to 36 and 20 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.06% or 1.50 to $2,326.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.49% or 1.88 to hit $77.41 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.24% or 1.78 to trade at $81.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.44% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 104.81.
