Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB), which rose 4.39% or 7.00 points to trade at 166.50 at the close. Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR:AZE) added 1.34% or 0.26 points to end at 19.72 and Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) was up 1.02% or 0.60 points to 59.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB), which lost 2.34% or 1.30 points to trade at 54.15 in late trade. Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP) declined 2.08% or 0.42 points to end at 19.76 and Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) shed 1.81% or 0.20 points to 10.83.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 51 to 42 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.40% or 38.09 to $2,756.49 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.03% or 1.39 to hit $69.98 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.58% or 1.14 to trade at $73.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 106.21.
