Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Lotus Bakeries (EBR:LOTB), which rose 1.82% or 220.00 points to trade at 12,280.00 at the close. Elia (EBR:ELI) added 1.76% or 1.50 points to end at 86.80 and UCB SA (EBR:UCB) was up 1.60% or 2.90 points to 184.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which lost 5.07% or 0.57 points to trade at 10.68 in late trade. Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) declined 3.90% or 3.14 points to end at 77.38 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.64% or 0.42 points to 25.12.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 54 to 39 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.48% or 13.05 to $2,692.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.87% or 2.08 to hit $70.28 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.51% or 1.90 to trade at $73.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.93% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 105.00.
