Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 2.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Argen-X (EBR:ARGX), which rose 9.06% or 33.70 points to trade at 405.50 at the close. Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) added 4.44% or 0.63 points to end at 14.82 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) was up 4.26% or 1.35 points to 33.07 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elia (EBR:ELI), which lost 0.75% or 0.70 points to trade at 92.10 in late trade. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) declined 0.66% or 0.55 points to end at 82.90 and UCB SA (EBR:UCB) shed 0.18% or 0.25 points to 138.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 55 to 39 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.45% or 10.55 to $2,341.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.05% or 0.85 to hit $81.58 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.79 to trade at $85.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 105.17.
