Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which rose 1.72% or 3.25 points to trade at 192.65 at the close. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) added 1.71% or 0.95 points to end at 56.60 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.23% or 0.32 points to 26.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB), which lost 1.83% or 3.00 points to trade at 161.10 in late trade. Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR:AZE) declined 1.62% or 0.31 points to end at 18.85 and Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) shed 0.54% or 0.38 points to 69.97.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 67 to 26 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.89% or 23.49 to $2,630.41 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.89% or 0.62 to hit $70.24 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.78% or 0.57 to trade at $73.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 107.88.
