Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Banking and Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.11%, while the ADX General index fell 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which rose 4.44% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.410 at the close. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) added 1.88% or 0.040 points to end at 2.170 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was up 1.80% or 0.014 points to 0.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which lost 6.43% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.31 in late trade. Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) declined 1.94% or 0.160 points to end at 8.100 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) shed 1.76% or 0.015 points to 0.837.
The top performers on the ADX General were Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) which rose 3.70% to 1.400, Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which was up 2.76% to settle at 2.230 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 1.64% to close at 0.620.
The worst performers were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which was down 9.71% to 1.580 in late trade, Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD:NBQ) which lost 9.68% to settle at 2.80 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was down 6.87% to 1.490 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 17 to 12 and 6 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 11 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.80% or 0.39 to $49.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.07% or 0.55 to hit $52.07 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.29 to trade at $1256.79 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.18% to 4.0105.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 98.93.
