Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Manufacturing and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the RTSI rose 0.31%, while the MICEX index added 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the RTSI were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 25.64% or 17.96 points to trade at 88.00 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 6.16% or 0.0043 points to end at 0.0743 and TMK ao (MCX:TRMK) was up 5.15% or 2.50 points to 51.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which lost 4.66% or 46.00 points to trade at 941.00 in late trade. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) declined 4.08% or 0.640 points to end at 15.060 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 2.97% or 14.50 points to 473.50.
The top performers on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) which rose 25.64% to 88.00, FSK EES (MCX:FEES) which was up 6.16% to settle at 0.0743 and TMK ao (MCX:TRMK) which gained 5.15% to close at 51.00.
The worst performers were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) which was down 4.66% to 941.00 in late trade, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) which lost 4.08% to settle at 15.060 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) which was down 2.97% to 473.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 107 to 66 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.97% or 11.20 to $1148.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.08% or 0.52 to hit $47.77 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 1.62% or 0.92 to trade at $57.30 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.18% to 61.989, while EUR/RUB fell 1.95% to 65.527.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.95% at 99.55.
