Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Industrials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.86% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 3.08% or 0.89 points to trade at 29.60 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 2.48% or 1.700 points to end at 70.190 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.80% or 0.81 points to 45.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.03% or 0.830 points to trade at 79.800 in late trade. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 0.78% or 1.05 points to end at 132.75 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.49% or 0.16 points to 32.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 35 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.05% or 0.64 to $1229.24 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.41% or 0.64 to hit $46.16 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.28% or 0.62 to trade at $49.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.0995, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8487.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 98.52.
