Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil and Gas, Telecom and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the RTSI fell 0.54%, while the MICEX index lost 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the RTSI were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 17.76% or 11.01 points to trade at 73.00 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 7.74% or 0.0052 points to end at 0.0716 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 5.25% or 0.0303 points to 0.6070 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatneft (pref) (MCX:TATN_p), which lost 4.03% or 7.30 points to trade at 174.00 in late trade. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) declined 3.94% or 13.40 points to end at 326.60 and TMK ao (MCX:TRMK) shed 3.59% or 1.70 points to 45.60.
The top performers on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) which rose 17.76% to 73.00, FSK EES (MCX:FEES) which was up 7.74% to settle at 0.0716 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) which gained 5.25% to close at 0.6070.
The worst performers were Tatneft (pref) (MCX:TATN_p) which was down 4.03% to 174.00 in late trade, Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) which lost 3.94% to settle at 326.60 and TMK ao (MCX:TRMK) which was down 3.59% to 45.60 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 63 and 6 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.64% or 7.70 to $1205.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 0.97% or 0.48 to hit $49.76 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 1.65% or 0.96 to trade at $59.62 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.05% to 62.158, while EUR/RUB fell 0.89% to 70.617.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 94.28.
