Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Chemicals and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.25%, while the MDAX index lost 0.57%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11), which rose 1.67% or 1.40 points to trade at 85.24 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 0.91% or 0.110 points to end at 12.255 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.70% or 0.21 points to 30.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which lost 3.22% or 4.850 points to trade at 145.650 in late trade. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) declined 2.46% or 2.120 points to end at 84.170 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 2.30% or 0.290 points to 12.335.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which rose 1.79% to 12.490, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 1.63% to settle at 36.51 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which gained 1.46% to close at 30.140.
The worst performers were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was down 2.56% to 55.650 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which lost 2.28% to settle at 29.980 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 2.05% to 4.44 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 2.84% to 181.000, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was up 0.71% to settle at 48.700 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which gained 0.51% to close at 26.668.
The worst performers were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which was down 7.69% to 0.036 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 5.11% to settle at 65.000 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 4.64% to 47.280 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 528 to 231 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.68% to 17.16.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.44% or 17.25 to $1213.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.50% or 0.79 to hit $53.42 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.68% or 0.93 to trade at $56.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.89% to 1.0790, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.8576.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.84% at 99.58.
