Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.59%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.31%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG), which rose 3.18% or 1.300 points to trade at 42.220 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 2.85% or 0.305 points to end at 11.005 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) was up 2.65% or 0.555 points to 21.495 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which lost 1.01% or 1.850 points to trade at 181.400 in late trade. Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRCG) declined 0.98% or 0.730 points to end at 73.800 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 0.79% or 0.490 points to 61.830.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which rose 4.35% to 49.37, Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which was up 4.24% to settle at 66.660 and Tui AG NA (DE:TUIGn) which gained 3.95% to close at 13.170.
The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 3.07% to 45.005 in late trade, Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which lost 2.61% to settle at 31.29 and Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (DE:HNRGn) which was down 1.52% to 100.450 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 5.36% to 3.420, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was up 4.39% to settle at 41.755 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 4.11% to close at 34.045.
The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 5.34% to 26.595 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 2.45% to settle at 7.522 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 1.86% to 42.200 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 531 to 301 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.99% to 19.62 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.10% or 13.90 to $1251.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $40.20 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.42 to trade at $41.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1269, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.7780.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 95.06.
