Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Communication and Internet sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Fast (TW:3622), which rose 9.96% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) added 9.91% or 1.10 points to end at 12.20 and Merry Eltrs (TW:2439) was up 8.07% or 6.50 points to 87.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which lost 9.91% or 0.740 points to trade at 6.730 in late trade. Great Wall Ent (TW:1210) declined 6.54% or 1.85 points to end at 26.45 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) shed 5.48% or 0.80 points to 13.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 437 to 309 and 103 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.45% or 0.20 to $44.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.13% or 0.06 to hit $46.14 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.32% or 4.25 to trade at $1326.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 32.030, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2087.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 96.94.
