Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Leisure Goods, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.51%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA), which rose 2.76% or 0.091 points to trade at 3.388 at the close. Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) added 2.38% or 3.40 points to end at 146.30 and AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) was up 1.97% or 0.43 points to 22.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kering (PARIS:PRTP), which lost 1.61% or 2.55 points to trade at 155.40 in late trade. Technip (PARIS:TECF) declined 0.88% or 0.51 points to end at 57.49 and Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) shed 0.84% or 0.08 points to 9.46.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which rose 6.46% to 0.379, Ubisoft Entertainment (PARIS:UBIP) which was up 3.05% to settle at 16.235 and Imerys (PARIS:IMTP) which gained 2.96% to close at 68.98.
The worst performers were Air France KLM SA (PARIS:AIRF) which was down 3.37% to 6.303 in late trade, Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which lost 2.78% to settle at 0.700 and Biomerieux (PARIS:BIOX) which was down 1.88% to 97.14 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 490 to 421 and 47 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.27% to 27.57 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.42% or 5.00 to $1180.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.70% or 0.42 to hit $60.42 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.23 to trade at $63.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.1232, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.7182.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 95.34.
