Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Software & Computers, Technology and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay (BRU:SOLB), which rose 1.37% or 1.70 points to trade at 125.90 at the close. Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) added 1.29% or 0.55 points to end at 42.81 and UCB (BRU:UCB) was up 1.08% or 0.67 points to 62.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB), which lost 0.80% or 0.74 points to trade at 91.26 in late trade. Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) declined 0.69% or 0.10 points to end at 14.80 and Elia (BRU:ELI) shed 0.24% or 0.090 points to 36.905.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 103 to 71 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.51% or 6.10 to $1179.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.68% or 0.41 to hit $60.41 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.27 to trade at $63.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.1234, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.7184.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 95.33.
