Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Aerospace & Defense, Automobiles & Parts and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.06%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which rose 3.54% or 0.34 points to trade at 9.84 at the close. Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 1.52% or 0.94 points to end at 62.70 and Kering (PARIS:PRTP) was up 0.52% or 0.85 points to 164.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP), which lost 2.36% or 5.70 points to trade at 235.35 in late trade. Safran (PARIS:SAF) declined 2.33% or 1.55 points to end at 65.00 and Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR) shed 2.22% or 1.38 points to 60.71.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) which rose 3.54% to 9.84, STMicroelectronics (PARIS:STM) which was up 2.44% to settle at 7.214 and Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which gained 2.32% to close at 22.52.
The worst performers were Eiffage (PARIS:FOUG) which was down 3.62% to 51.66 in late trade, Faurecia (PARIS:EPED) which lost 3.58% to settle at 41.17 and Ipsos (PARIS:ISOS) which was down 3.36% to 25.86 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 659 to 234 and 51 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.07% to 21.56.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.87% or 10.30 to $1193.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.24% or 1.33 to hit $60.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.54% or 1.67 to trade at $67.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.82% to 1.1248, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.7167.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.73% at 94.42.
