Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the General Financial, Support Services and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.22%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which rose 1.98% or 1.25 points to trade at 64.39 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) added 1.64% or 0.57 points to end at 35.34 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 1.55% or 0.98 points to 64.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 1.27% or 0.04 points to trade at 3.51 in late trade. Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) declined 1.09% or 0.94 points to end at 85.21 and Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) shed 0.93% or 0.26 points to 27.14.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which rose 6.47% to 48.97, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 5.64% to settle at 8.48 and Neopost (PA:NPOS) which gained 4.95% to close at 20.25.
The worst performers were Zodiac Aerospace (PA:ZODC) which was down 3.66% to 22.22 in late trade, Elior (PA:ELIOR) which lost 2.35% to settle at 18.10 and STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which was down 1.89% to 6.031 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 443 to 289 and 58 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.97% to 24.77.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.25% or 13.30 to $1074.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.04% or 1.51 to hit $35.84 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.09% or 1.20 to trade at $37.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.00% to 1.0931, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.7280.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 98.27.
