Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 2.77%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 2.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which rose 4.27% or 2.71 points to trade at 66.17 at the close. Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) added 3.86% or 2.30 points to end at 61.83 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was up 3.75% or 1.68 points to 46.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which added 0.10% or 0.03 points to trade at 29.41 in late trade. Alcatel Lucent SA (PA:ALUA) added 1.33% or 0.049 points to end at 3.729 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) gained 1.74% or 0.60 points to 35.40.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Coface (PA:COFA) which rose 5.53% to 8.89, Iliad (PA:ILD) which was up 4.88% to settle at 211.60 and Suez Environnement (PA:SEVI) which gained 4.40% to close at 17.895.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 7.11% to 41.150 in late trade, Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which lost 1.07% to settle at 13.920 and Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which was down 0.89% to 14.43 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 519 to 205 and 49 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.69% to 22.71.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.50% or 16.20 to $1067.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.25% or 0.94 to hit $40.80 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.69% or 0.76 to trade at $43.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.0642, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.6993.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 99.74.
