Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Services and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Transport, Telecoms and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.05%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which rose 1.27% or 0.006 points to trade at 0.478 at the close. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) added 1.22% or 0.020 points to end at 1.660 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 0.86% or 0.010 points to 1.170 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 6.22% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.810 in late trade. Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) declined 2.99% or 0.029 points to end at 0.940 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) shed 2.34% or 0.050 points to 2.090.
The top performers on the ADX General were Finance House (AD:FH) which rose 4.71% to 2.00, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 3.83% to settle at 2.98 and Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which gained 2.94% to close at 0.350.
The worst performers were Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 3.77% to 0.510 in late trade, Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which lost 2.12% to settle at 3.70 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 1.32% to 7.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 13 to 11 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 8 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.94% or 0.39 to $41.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.69% or 0.29 to hit $41.50 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.26% or 15.70 to trade at $1232.90 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.20% to 4.1121.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 95.87.
