Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Telecoms and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.99%, while the MDAX index lost 0.65%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG), which rose 0.78% or 0.570 points to trade at 73.810 at the close. SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG) added 0.25% or 0.170 points to end at 67.530 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) was down 0.08% or 0.025 points to 32.360 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 1.94% or 0.470 points to trade at 23.780 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 1.89% or 0.470 points to end at 24.435 and BASF SE NA O.N. (XETRA:BASFN) shed 1.86% or 1.750 points to 92.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which rose 2.13% to 46.110, Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which was up 1.04% to settle at 121.000 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which gained 0.77% to close at 46.865.
The worst performers were Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:FPEG_p) which was down 3.18% to 37.240 in late trade, Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which lost 2.36% to settle at 31.40 and Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which was down 1.78% to 51.260 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 1.44% to 11.960, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was up 1.03% to settle at 1.953 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which gained 0.77% to close at 10.425.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 5.04% to 120.600 in late trade, Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which lost 3.29% to settle at 24.250 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 2.43% to 160.500 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 464 to 262 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.63.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.16% or 1.90 to $1187.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.78% or 0.38 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.47 to trade at $55.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.84% to 1.0741, while EUR/GBP fell 1.15% to 0.7232.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 98.67.
