Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Foods & Drugs and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 2.19%, while the SBF 120 index added 2.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group (PA:AIR), which rose 5.09% or 2.80 points to trade at 57.82 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) added 4.15% or 4.30 points to end at 107.95 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 4.03% or 2.31 points to 59.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 5.87% or 0.22 points to trade at 3.48 in late trade. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) declined 1.20% or 1.45 points to end at 119.45 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) shed 1.01% or 0.14 points to 13.66.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which rose 6.44% to 36.28, Numericable Pr (PA:NUME) which was up 5.32% to settle at 36.550 and ICADE (PA:ICAD) which gained 5.25% to close at 65.50.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 14.32% to 4.05 in late trade, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which lost 5.87% to settle at 3.48 and CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 3.75% to 0.77 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 462 to 221 and 88 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.99% to 26.52.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.13% or 1.40 to $1117.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.86% or 0.28 to hit $33.51 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.47% or 0.86 to trade at $35.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.00% to 1.0831, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.7630.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.07% at 99.68.
