Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 3.51% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.580 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 3.33% or 0.71 points to end at 22.01 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 2.57% or 0.89 points to 35.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN), which lost 6.27% or 0.35 points to trade at 5.23 in late trade. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) declined 3.76% or 1.88 points to end at 48.12 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) shed 3.23% or 2.00 points to 62.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 41 to 38 and 22 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.80% or 0.80 to $45.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.66% or 0.78 to hit $47.66 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.11% or 1.33 to trade at $1214.53 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.04% to 359.250, while USD/NGN fell 9.93% to 315.250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 95.61.
