Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN), which fell 0.37% or 0.07 points to trade at 20.39 at the close. Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) fell 0.90% or 0.23 points to end at 25.95 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was down 0.92% or 0.20 points to 21.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon (AS:AEGN), which lost 4.59% or 0.146 points to trade at 3.036 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 4.03% or 0.54 points to end at 12.75 and NN Group (AS:NN) shed 3.04% or 0.70 points to 22.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 152 to 13 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 6.11% to 24.97.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.05% or 0.49 to $47.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.79% or 0.38 to hit $48.34 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.65% or 8.85 to trade at $1367.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1089, while EUR/GBP rose 0.76% to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 96.20.
