Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Transport, Real Estate & Construction and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 1.32%, while the ADX General index fell 0.79%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which rose 0.90% or 0.010 points to trade at 1.120 at the close. Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) added 0.67% or 0.010 points to end at 1.500 and Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) was up 0.31% or 0.003 points to 0.985 in late trade.

Biggest losers included National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR), which lost 3.74% or 0.070 points to trade at 1.800 in late trade. ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) declined 3.22% or 0.140 points to end at 4.210 and Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) shed 2.62% or 0.02 points to 0.59.

The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which rose 3.95% to 0.7900, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was up 2.70% to settle at 0.760 and Methaq (AD:METH) which gained 2.56% to close at 0.800.

The worst performers were Waha Capital (AD:WAHA) which was down 3.72% to 2.070 in late trade, Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which lost 3.57% to settle at 0.540 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 2.60% to 0.750 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 30 to 4 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 fell and 8 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.56% or 0.36 to $64.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.61% or 0.42 to hit $68.10 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 6.60 to trade at $1342.00 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.36% to 4.5719.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 88.77.
