Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Insurance and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.72% to hit a new 52-week low, while the ADX General index declined 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 1.85% or 0.020 points to trade at 1.100 at the close. Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) added 0.88% or 0.01 points to end at 0.57 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 0.57% or 0.010 points to 1.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 2.50% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.702 in late trade. DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) declined 2.48% or 0.014 points to end at 0.551 and Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) shed 2.44% or 0.013 points to 0.520.
The top performers on the ADX General were Foodco Holding PJSC (AD:FOOD) which rose 11.34% to 5.50, Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which was up 5.45% to settle at 0.580 and International Holding Company PJSC (AD:IHC) which gained 4.93% to close at 1.49.
The worst performers were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which was down 8.00% to 0.920 in late trade, Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which lost 5.31% to settle at 1.070 and Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was down 3.70% to 0.260 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 26 to 6 and 10 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 fell and 10 advanced, while 11 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.77% or 0.48 to $62.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.82% or 0.54 to hit $65.25 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.20 to trade at $1334.00 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6728, while EUR/AED rose 0.19% to 4.5655.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 89.44.
