Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Industrial Transportation and General Industrial sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN), which rose 1.21% or 3.10 points to trade at 259.60 at the close. Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) added 1.09% or 3.50 points to end at 325.10 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 1.03% or 1.78 points to 174.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO), which lost 5.99% or 27.30 points to trade at 428.30 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 5.67% or 115.00 points to end at 1913.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) shed 5.38% or 270.00 points to 4750.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1491 to 600 and 304 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 0.70 to $1203.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.03% or 1.55 to hit $74.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.33% or 1.15 to trade at $85.14 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.55% to 1.3011, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8841.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 95.47.
