Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 2.08% or 14.00 points to trade at 688.80 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) added 1.06% or 27.0 points to end at 2573.0 and Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) was up 0.82% or 20.00 points to 2444.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 7.55% or 88.50 points to trade at 1084.00 in late trade. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) declined 5.80% or 432.00 points to end at 7020.00 and Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) shed 3.90% or 162.00 points to 3988.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1437 to 673 and 187 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 0.85 to $1505.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.91% or 0.48 to hit $52.27 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.79% or 0.46 to trade at $57.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.57% to 1.2221, while EUR/GBP rose 0.44% to 0.8962.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 98.868.
